Magnet design
This is a commission I've just sent off, 'Save The Date' magnets. The idea is that these go out and then the proper invitation goes out closer to the date with whats actually happening. Great idea, and with me around you can get it personalised as well!

Well hey!

Sorry in advance for the awful quality of the photographs. My scanner is packed away somewhere in the depths of my house.
So hey! Hope you're all well and happy! What a crazy and eventful year it's been since stepping away from the student life. I lived and worked in France for 6 months in a ski resort which has just completely changed my life in so many ways.
Seasonal work is really hard graft so I had very little time to sit and draw. And besides, you sort of get sucked into the seasonnaire lifestyle of work-ski-sleep! Or any combination of those three :-)
I got back to Blighty in May and still I don't really have any proper plans to start a career in illustration (or any career ha) just yet. But that doesn't stop me pottering around at my desk! I still don't think I've found my favourite way of working, so I find it hard to concentrate and follow my ideas all the way to the end result.
The first image WAS a commission for a friend who wanted some artwork for his band's new album. I spent quite a lot of time drawing out and tweaking the design, then my friend told me his band was breaking up. Really disappointing and even more irritating that he didn't let me know sooner. LESSON LEARNT!
The three inks are just plays, great fun, and the last image I drew in France mid-ski season and sort of illustrates how I was feeling at the time (it wasn't all fun and games I guess)!
On a last note,
I hope I'm not alone when I say I feel pretty clueless which direction my life is heading. Hah.
Lots of love

Sock Monster
This is the little project that has been taking up my free time. Really enjoyed doing it though, something a bit different from what I normally do. It's a request from a friend of the family, hopefully they like it to!

Early stages of the Swan.
Thursday, 19 August 2010
Hello from Lulworth, Dorset!
Hello everyone!
Really great to be in touch again, I'm glad someone took the initiative to re-kindle the blog :D I was starting to feel a bit cut off down here...
Anyway, haven't had a terribly exciting year (can you believe it's been a year!), just been working in the soul-destroying environment that is the retail industry... but managing just barely to keep up the drawing!
I'm working on a graphic novel and animation pilot, with my partner Alec, for a guy in London - can't really show any visuals as of yet because it's all extremely secretive until we (hopefully) get it funded - or maybe, more realistically, it's too much in the early stages and there isn't anything comprehensible to show you yet!
For now, here are some iPod skins I designed for RockaSkin.com. Two are still in the voting stages, but one has got through the viscious public scrutiny and is available to buy!
Hope to hear fantastic stories of where you've all been and where you are now,
Love Rose x
P.S. I found the graphic novel/animation job on Graduate Talent Pool, a government run (yes I know, but stay with me on this) website where employees post internships, both paid and unpaid. Worth a look!

Pencil and Chalk pastel illustrations

My first post to Magic Bean! :)
These drawings are based on a series of photographs I took of my dad and brother, they were letting off a Chinese lantern off around Christmas time.
I've kept the line loose in hopes that there is more personality and character, I've then worked them up in chalk pastel something of which I'm not used, but so far am happy with.
Don't forget to checkout my portfolio and other blogg.

The London Art Book Fair
The London Art Book Fair
Came across this and thought you would all be interested, maybe a possibility for us to all meet up and check out whats going on? Will look further into it for details, but you can see most through the link.
I'm going to stress the point that it's ART Book Fair, not ARTISTS' Book Fair :-)
